Shading the truth

Well for those of us that were convinced that the associates of the former governor of Texas may be the most mendacious lot ever to to walk through the front door of the White House, at least since Nixon and Haldemann, we now have Scott McClellan's word for it. This book, which I obviously have not read, apparently has it all. Alleged conspiracies to obstruct justice (Paging Mr. Fitzgerald, Mr. Fitzgerald, please call your office immediately!) by Mssrs Rove and Libby, behind the scenes machinations by Dick "Darth Vader" Cheney, a person occupying the Oval Office who we are assured is smart enough but apparently too idealogically blind to care. Great stuff. This book gives new meaning to the old adage about being able to fool people: apparently the first four years didn't contain enough data that this crowd should have been shown the door in January of 2005: 62,040,606 persons were sufficiently (fill in perjorative adjective here) to re-elect this man. And Ari Fleischer and Dan Bartlett are still going on national TV to apologize for this guy (although my hat is off to Dan; his pained look when expressing his surprise at Scott never having mentioned his feelings while in the White House should stop the race for Best Actor Oscar® right now; not even Sean Penn's gonna come close)

Please join me in the following prayer: Lord Jesus, please bring your light to those 62,040,606 persons who had not a clue on Election Day 2004 and returned this gaggle of fools to office; On November 4, let them see the light of reason and vote for someone who cares for people who are not in the top .05 percent of the income distribution in this country, or if that is not to be, let their fuel injection be permanently disabled on the way to the polls. Can I hear an AMEN?
